In Germany, for the first time, it has fallen below 3000 euros, according to an analysis by the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), reported Stern.

Reasons for the leveling

'The price difference has fallen to 2862 euros,'
— said CAR director Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer. The rise in prices for internal combustion engine cars and a reduction in discounts have made them more expensive, while the prices of some electric cars have fallen, leading to a decrease in the price difference.

The availability of many electric vehicle models is also influencing their popularity growth. For example, Hyundai's Inster model has replaced the less-selling Ioniq 5. This trend will contribute to the further spread of electric vehicles in Europe.

How calculations were made

The analysis compared prices for the 20 most popular models of internal combustion engine and electric vehicles. The average price of electric cars fell from 38,500 euros in January to 35,600 euros in July. At the same time, the average price of internal combustion engine cars increased by 183 euros during this period.

The CAR director emphasized that price dynamics are a key factor in the competitiveness of electric vehicles.

In Germany, the price difference between electric vehicles and internal combustion engine cars is decreasing, as prices for electric vehicles have fallen, while cars with internal combustion engines have become more expensive. This trend may contribute to the further growth in popularity of electric vehicles in Europe.
