Fuel Price Hikes Across Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: Over the weekend of March 21–22, 2023, fuel prices in Kyiv climbed sharply, with diesel nearing 90 hryvnias per liter. This jump is part of a broader upward trend in fuel and lubricant costs across the country.

As of March 23, 2023, the average price of A-95 gasoline in Ukraine stood at 74.99 hryvnias per liter. Diesel fuel surpassed 80 hryvnias per liter, signaling a continued increase in fuel expenses. At SOCAR gas stations on March 23, prices were as follows:

  • Diesel Nano - 76.99 hryvnias
  • 95 Gasoline - 74.99 hryvnias
  • Nano 95 - 78.99 hryvnias
  • Diesel Nano Extra - 89.99 hryvnias
  • Nano 100 - 84.99 hryvnias
  • LPG - 46.98 hryvnias

At WOG stations, the pricing was:

  • Euro Diesel - 86.99 hryvnias
  • A-95 Euro - 74.99 hryvnias
  • 95 Mustang - 77.99 hryvnias
  • 100 Mustang - 84.99 hryvnias
  • Gas - 46.98 hryvnias

Despite these increases, fuel in Ukraine remains cheaper than in some European countries. For context, prices in Germany have reached 150 hryvnias per liter, while in the Netherlands they exceed 120 hryvnias per liter.

This price hike in Ukraine mirrors broader fuel market trends that could impact the economy and household transportation costs.

The rising cost of fuel in Ukraine reflects global energy price volatility, driven by factors like shifting supply and demand, political conditions in oil-exporting regions, and inflationary pressures. Higher fuel costs may increase transportation expenses for goods and services, potentially raising consumer prices. Given Ukraine’s heavy reliance on fuel imports, international market fluctuations will directly affect domestic price stability.
