The global top performers
Qatar Airways received the Platinum Award as the airline with the best overall performance of the year. The absolute top position in the global ranking was secured by Aeromexico, which operated over 90% of its flights on time. Other leaders include:
- Saudia in second place
- SAS Scandinavian Airlines in third place
- Delta Air Lines - best airline in North America for the fifth time in a row
- Iberia Express - Europe's leader for the third time in a row
- Philippine Airlines - best airline in the Asia-Pacific region
- Copa Airlines - winner in Latin America for the eleventh time
- Safair - most punctual airline in the Middle East and Africa
The report also highlights that Virgin Atlantic was able to improve its punctuality by almost 10%. However, the industry also faces significant challenges. The British company AOG Technics is said to be involved in a scandal involving counterfeit aircraft parts, where over 60,000 components were sold with fake documents. This led to urgent inspections of aircraft fleets.
'The plane crash in India in June 2025 could be related to problems with Boeing aircraft.'
The Cirium report provides valuable insight into trends in the aviation industry, showcasing both successes and structural issues. Punctuality is a crucial criterion for passengers when choosing their airline. The uncovered cases of counterfeit parts highlight the need for stricter controls across the entire supply chain to ensure flight safety and consumer trust. Such reports are an important decision-making aid for travelers.
