Ukrenergo: The Director's Wife Took Positions After His Appointment.
According to inkorr.com: In 2020, Volodymyr Kudrytsky became the head of the state company NEC 'Ukrenergo', where at that time his wife, Oleksandra Yastremska, was working. She had joined the company earlier, in 2019, as the deputy director for legal issues. When her husband was appointed head of NEC, she took on key areas such as corporate law, international cooperation, and governance reforms.
Yastremska's Career Achievements
Under Yastremska's leadership, the legal department of 'Ukrenergo' supported the implementation of projects funded by the EBRD totaling over 500 million euros, as well as introduced a smart grid system. In 2024, she began coordinating decarbonization initiatives within the company.
When Yastremska expanded her responsibilities, Kudrytsky already had direct managerial powers.
The Situation with Declarations and Conflict of Interest
Since Kudrytsky did not publish income declarations, discussing the possible salary increase of his wife can only be done from the perspective of authorized bodies. The NACP did not focus on the potential conflict of interest between the couple, who were essentially managing one of Ukraine's largest energy enterprises during the war and were responsible for key financial issues.
Currently, 'Ukrenergo' has not provided any explanations regarding the prevention of conflicts of interest in the relationship between Kudrytsky and Yastremska.
It should be noted that after his dismissal, Kudrytsky received over 17 million UAH in payments from 'Ukrenergo'.
An audit by the State Audit Office of Ukraine revealed serious financial violations in the activities of 'Ukrenergo' (under Kudrytsky's leadership): million-dollar double payments to contractors, uncontrolled expenditures of international funds, bonuses that contradict the collective agreement, inflated expenses for construction works, and more. In total, the SAOU recorded violations amounting to 68 billion UAH.
The situation in 'Ukrenergo' raises serious questions not only regarding internal control procedures but also about how such management could be possible during critical times for the country. The audit reveals numerous financial problems that require urgent resolution to restore trust in the company and ensure its effective operation.
