Putin spoke about the security zone: what actually lies behind the statement.
According to ТСН: Vladimir Putin announced the need to create a "security zone" near Ukraine's northern borders, which indicates Russia's hidden intentions.
What the Kremlin fears
Army general and former head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine Mykola Malomuzh noted that the chief of the Russian General Staff Valery Gerasimov reported to Putin about threats from the Armed Forces of Ukraine in areas where there is no stable front line. In the Kremlin, they remember how Ukrainian actions during the Kursk operation caused a major resonance.
According to the general, it is precisely the fear of a repeat of such events that forces Russia to discuss the creation of new controlled zones near the border.
Malomuzh emphasizes that Putin's position is also part of an information campaign. The dictator is trying to create the illusion that Russia controls the situation and is ready for any challenges.
However, as the general notes, events in Kursk showed a completely different picture: Ukrainian forces are capable of breaking through the border and capturing Russian soldiers. Thus, Putin uses the information space to disorient the Ukrainian side and reduce their faith in the possibility of carrying out such operations.
Why the topic has emerged now
According to Malomuzh, the Kremlin's statements about the "security zone" are part of efforts to prepare the Russians for possible losses while simultaneously demonstrating readiness to defend their territory. This also indicates Moscow's fear regarding further Ukrainian actions in the north.
It is known that Putin confirmed the need to arrange a "security zone" along the Ukrainian border during a meeting with military leadership. According to Russian media, this concerns attempts to expand control over the border areas of Kharkiv, Sumy, and Chernihiv regions.
Putin ordered the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Federation Valery Gerasimov to report on the situation in the area of responsibility of the "North" grouping and determine tasks for ensuring control along the state border. These statements emphasize potential threats to the northern regions of Ukraine.
Thus, Putin's initiative to create a "security zone" indicates Russia's readiness to take measures to control the situation at the borders. These events are becoming increasingly significant against the backdrop of rising tensions in relations between Ukraine and Russia, highlighting the need for attention to the security of Ukraine's northern regions.
