Changes at COSTA Coffee

According to The Sun: COSTA Coffee has announced an important update for its customers – the cafe is bringing back the option to warm its popular cinnamon buns.

Earlier this year, the chain reported that it could no longer heat the buns due to the risk of burns from the hot glaze.

Since then, the buns have only been sold cold due to concerns for customer health.

However, the company has developed a new heating method that will reduce the risk of burns.

Costa told The Sun newspaper:

“We listened to customer feedback and are pleased to confirm that our Cinnamon Buns can now be heated upon request.”

This news will certainly please customers who previously complained about the ban on heating.

One of them noted:

“Why can’t I get my cinnamon bun (the best in the world) hot? If it’s due to silly health concerns, then why can hot cheese be on toast?”

Another customer added on X:

“Justice for the cinnamon bun... bring them back hot.”

On Costa’s Facebook page, one fan expressed outrage:

“Cinnamon buns are significantly tastier when they are warm.”

Previously, the company received several complaints from customers about burns from the glaze, prompting them to advise teams to stop heating these buns.

“We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience,”
the message read.

Popularity of Cinnamon Buns

Cinnamon buns have become one of the most popular snacks of the year, and the 'share' version from Tesco has gained popularity. Costa also released a cinnamon latte that accompanies the buns.

M&S, in the meantime, is advertising the “season of cinnamon.”

Other Changes at Costa

This positive news comes after the release of Costa's new autumn menu, which includes the popular Maple Hazel Latte, known for its sweet, nutty flavor, as well as Maple Hazel Hot Chocolate.

At the same time, the chain has undergone a series of store closures since September 2024, with at least 20 branches closing this year.

Costa Coffee on Seamoor Road in Westbourne closed on September 14 after 15 years of serving customers in the city.

One of the branches at Andover Bus Station also made the closure list, and the branch on Marlborough High Street closed on July 17.

Another store in Witley, Kent, closed on June 29, and in Lyme Regis, the branch closed in April.
