The 'Four Eyes': The UK Seeks an Intelligence Alliance Alternative without the US.

The UK must develop the 'Four Eyes' alliance for intelligence sharing in light of Trump's actions
According to the Daily Mail, sources in the defense department stated that the UK should consider creating an intelligence-sharing alliance called 'Four Eyes' in response to US President Donald Trump's actions regarding Ukraine.
'The unprecedented decision by the US president to bar allies, including the UK, from providing Ukraine with classified materials that could be helpful to this Eastern European country has led to calls for the establishment of a new group for intelligence sharing without US involvement,' said a high-ranking security source.
Trump used his powers within the 'Five Eyes' alliance (the US, UK, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand) to halt the transfer of intelligence to Kyiv. Now, some defense officials are suggesting the creation of a subgroup for intelligence sharing without the American veto.
'It is not about withdrawing from the 'Five Eyes', but about creating a new 'Four Eyes' within this alliance - without America,' the source stated.
The US decision will negatively affect Ukraine's ability to defend itself against ongoing Russian attacks, the Institute for the Study of War reported last week.
Former British Ambassador to Washington Sir David Manning highlighted that the issue of intelligence sharing will become 'difficult to navigate'. He told MPs: 'Clearly, if there are Trump supporters in such key positions who have a controversial past and have expressed indecent things about NATO allies and NATO itself, and if there are individuals in the administration who seem to be looking for ways to appease Russia, then you have an intelligence problem. It is a significant question of how to maintain a special relationship with the Trump administration.'
