The cricket match was canceled due to wind: the referees' decision caused a scandal.
The match between Somerset and Hampshire was canceled due to weather conditions
According to The Sun: The county championship match between Somerset and Hampshire was postponed due to unfavorable weather conditions on Monday.
While several matches were canceled due to rain in other regions of the country, the strong wind in Taunton was the reason the game did not take place.

Rain passed through the stadium at night and in the morning, prompting a pitch inspection during lunch, but afterward, the rain stopped and the sun appeared.
However, the strong wind became the last straw that led to the match being canceled before it even started.
High winds in the region complicated the removal of covers from the pitch, which was dangerous for the staff.
Similar incidents have happened in the past: in 2017, during a test match in Perth, one of the staff members felt unwell while working with the covers.
Journalists from The Times report that referees Ben Debenham and David Milns reviewed the situation while fans waited for the game to start.
However, their waiting was in vain, as the match was canceled in accordance with safety regulations set by the England and Wales Cricket Board.
Those present initially did not know the reasons for the delay, and the final decision was announced after a snack.
The situation surprised cricket fans, many of whom criticized the ECB in comments to The Times report.

One fan noted:
“And they wonder why cricket in the counties is not thriving? It’s just absurd.”
Another fan expressed:
“This is a complete disgrace. Why is the ECB not criticized for this ridiculous rule?”
Some fans found irony in the situation, noting:
“I am surprised they are allowed to play with a pretty hard ball?”
Unlike Monday, the match eventually took place on Tuesday, where Somerset chose to start the game with the bat in hand. Meanwhile, the match between Middlesex and Lancashire was again delayed due to rain at Old Trafford stadium.
This situation once again highlighted how weather can impact sporting events, as the safety of players and staff must always come first. Frustrated by the missed match, fans eagerly await the next encounters, hoping for stable weather and bright moments of play. The further developments in cricket prompt discussions about safety in matches, which clearly require special attention.
