UEFA fined Crystal Palace €10,000 for an anti-corruption banner.
According to The Sun: The Crystal Palace club received a fine from UEFA for a banner displayed during the playoff match of the Conference League against Fredrikstad a month ago.
Fans of the team showed a banner reading 'UEFA MAFIA', which featured the organization's logo and a euro symbol.
ReutersThis gesture was a response to UEFA's decision to downgrade the club from the Europa League to the Conference League due to ownership rules affecting multiple clubs.
The banner first appeared at Selhurst Park during the match against Fredrikstad and was also shown at the FA Supercup match against Liverpool at Wembley and at the Premier League match at Stamford Bridge on the opening weekend of the season.
UEFA imposed a fine of £8,693 (€10,000) for what it deemed a violation of its authority and for broadcasting a message that did not align with the spirit of sporting events, in accordance with articles 16(2)(e) and 11(2)(d) of UEFA regulations.
As a reminder, Crystal Palace qualified for the Europa League for the first time after winning the FA Cup in May. However, UEFA acknowledged that the club is part of the same ownership group as Ligue 1 giants Lyon, which also qualified.
As a result, Crystal Palace was excluded from the competition and replaced by Nottingham Forest, causing outrage among fans.

Palace fans also came out with a banner targeting Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis during the teams' Premier League match last month.
“Mr Marinakis is not involved in blackmail, match-fixing, drug trafficking or corruption!”
The Forest owner has always firmly denied any allegations of wrongdoing.
The Football Association is currently conducting an investigation, the results of which have yet to be published.

Crystal Palace fans intend to continue voicing their stance despite the imposed fine.
It is expected that the Football Association's investigation will uncover details that may ignite new controversies in world football.
