Denmark transferred 6 F-16 fighters to Ukraine
Ukraine received six multi-role F-16 fighters from Denmark, and another 13 aircraft are being prepared for transfer, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reported during a joint press conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Frederiksen emphasized that Denmark's plans for the transfer of F-16s remain unchanged. 'We have been training [the pilots] since last August - and it has been difficult, but we have managed to train them, and the process continues,' the Prime Minister noted.
19 units of F-16 will be transferred to Ukraine
Overall, Denmark plans to transfer 19 fighters to the Ukrainian Air Force. Troels Lund Poulsen, Denmark's defense minister, previously stated that the training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16s is set to be completed by the end of 2024.
Denmark will finance the Ukrainian defense industry
It was also revealed that by the end of 2024, Denmark will purchase Ukrainian long-range drones, anti-tank missile systems, rockets, and artillery systems as part of the 'Danish model' for financing the defense industry. Recently, on November 19, Denmark announced a new aid package of over 130 million euros in direct investments into the Ukrainian defense industry, most of which will be aimed at developing long-range military capabilities.
