Concerns Over Parliamentary Performance

According to Novyny.live: Danilo Getmantsev, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada's Committee on Finance, Taxation, and Customs Policy, has raised serious concerns about the declining effectiveness of Ukraine's parliament, the 9th convocation of the Verkhovna Rada. He stated that the legislature is exhausting its potential and requires decisions based on national interest rather than political expediency. This critique comes at a time when Ukraine is heavily reliant on international aid and internal reforms to sustain its economy and infrastructure.

Getmantsev specifically pointed to a troubling trend in the Rada's recent legislative activity.

"We pass five laws on the first day, six on the second, and we end each day by failing to pass another legislative initiative," he noted.
This pattern indicates that crucial draft laws are failing to secure the necessary support from lawmakers.

Legislative Gridlock and Missed Opportunities

Highlighting the difficulties in passing legislation, Getmantsev cited a recent deregulation bill concerning the cancellation of work completion certificates, which only narrowly passed with 230 votes. He also revealed a significant financial setback, noting that Ukraine has already missed its chance to secure European funding for road repairs.

"We have lost the money we were supposed to receive from the Europeans for road repairs," he emphasized.

In a related development concerning international financial support, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a new Extended Fund Facility program for Ukraine totaling $8.1 billion. The first tranche of $1.5 billion is expected to be disbursed to Kyiv in the near future, providing a vital lifeline for the nation's financial stability amidst ongoing conflict.

Getmantsev's statements underscore a critical situation within Ukraine's legislative process, where insufficient support for key initiatives threatens to hinder reforms and jeopardize international funding. As the country faces severe economic challenges, a decline in parliamentary productivity risks undermining both national stability and long-term development.
