Luke Littler wins in record match: opponent shows the highest average score in tournament history.
Luke Littler's Victory at the World Grand Prix
According to The Sun: Luke Littler has finally achieved the desired success at his 'home' tournament, defeating his 'nemesis' who set the record for the highest average points at the World Grand Prix!
The current world darts champion defeated Jan van Ven in a score of 2-0 in a 'fantastic' first-round match of this unique double-start tournament in Leicester.

This victory was Littler's first, as last year he lost to Rob Cross at the tournament's start.
This happened the day after Littler announced his split with experienced manager Martin Foulds, with whom he had worked for five years.
Littler made an impressive exit from 151 in the third leg, closing the first set in six minutes with a score of 86. He celebrated this victory by raising his hands in the air.
Commentators Sky could not believe their eyes, calling this performance: 'one of the best sets of darts you have ever seen.'
The 18-year-old player, who prefers playing with double tops and double tens, secured his progression with an impressive 144 points.
Van Ven simply raised his hands, shook his head, and shrugged, suggesting that he could have played better against such quality of play.
Littler, who averaged 105.58 over eight legs, assured that he would bring 'fire' to his appearance, and indeed proved it on stage.

He noted: 'I am very happy. I don't think I could have played better.'
'Everything felt good. I missed a few doubles, but overall it was a good game.'
'Jan also played his part in this wonderful game.'
'We constantly pushed each other and played our best. Winning my first game here is an incredible feeling.'
'I played better than last time. I said in a previous interview that I would be much sparklier — and I proved it.'
