Deported from the US, 24 of 45 Ukrainian Men Were Wanted—Now They Face the Front Lines.
Ukrainian Deportees from the US May Be Drafted Immediately Upon Return
According to Novyny.live: On March 27, 2026, CNN reported new developments regarding Ukrainians deported from the United States. These individuals may be conscripted as soon as they cross back into Ukraine. Out of 45 men sent back on a single flight, 24 were already listed as wanted for violating military registration rules.
The Trump administration tightened immigration policies during his second term, leading to a rise in deportations. One of those deported, 28-year-old Volodymyr Dudnyk, shared his story. He entered the US in 2019 on an exchange visa, applied for asylum, and received a work permit. After being deported, however, he spent 51 days in a military training camp.
Volodymyr Dudnyk: 'When I was on the plane to Ukraine, I knew what awaited me.'
He also described a fellow passenger: 'The man traveling with me had two or three children, and he was deported too.'
New Military Registration Requirements
Under updated rules, Ukrainians born in 2009 must register for military service by July 31, 2026. This measure is driven by the need to staff military units amid the ongoing war, underscoring the importance of compliance for all men of fighting age.
The deportation of Ukrainians from the US and their subsequent mobilization upon return highlights the severe pressures Ukraine faces during its prolonged conflict. Tightened military registration and conscription reflect a growing demand for personnel to maintain national defense. At the same time, this places families in difficult situations after repatriation—especially those who had hoped for a fresh start in America.
