Government Grant Offers Up to 300,000 Hryvnias for Apartment Building Generators

According to TSN.ua: Residents of multi-story apartment buildings can now apply for state financial aid to purchase autonomous power sources. This initiative is a direct response to the ongoing challenges of ensuring a stable electricity supply. The amount of the grant ranges from 100,000 to 300,000 hryvnias, depending on the height of the building. The program has already launched in Kyiv and the surrounding region, with an initial 800 million hryvnias reserved in the state budget.

Program Details and Eligibility

Under the program's terms, grant amounts are tiered based on building size. Funds will be transferred within 5 days of an application's approval. After purchasing the equipment, participants have 30 days to submit a report on the expenditure.

  • Buildings up to 6 stories tall: 100,000 hryvnias;
  • Buildings up to 16 stories tall: 200,000 hryvnias;
  • Buildings of 17 stories or more, or with more than three entrances: 300,000 hryvnias.

Strong public interest is evident, with the first 500 applications already registered. As resident Valerii Nikitchenko noted,

“If we didn’t have a generator and insulation, we would have drained the water long ago and looked for another place to live.”
According to Oleksii Kuleba, the program is designed as
“supplementary support for people who have started collecting money but are short a certain amount—the state provides the help to bridge that gap.”

The program aims to secure autonomous power for essential services like elevators and internet connectivity in high-rise buildings, a critical need under current conditions. By addressing the growing demand for reliable electricity, this state initiative seeks to significantly improve living conditions for citizens in multi-story apartments.

This grant represents a vital step toward ensuring a more stable power supply, particularly given the frequent outages that have become commonplace. Drawing on lessons from past crises, the state is working to alleviate the significant dependence on centralized grids experienced by those living in tall residential buildings.
