The incident occurred after a member of the Atletico team was accused of spitting at and splashing Liverpool fans. After analyzing the reports from the referee and the match delegate, Simeone received a one-match suspension for 'unsporting behavior'.

This means that the former footballer will miss the game against Eintracht Frankfurt and will not be able to be in the locker room or on the sidelines.

No action has been taken against members of the coaching staff, although UEFA is apparently interested in clarifying the matter. Meanwhile, Liverpool has been fined £3500 for fans throwing objects onto the field during the game.
