Dynamo Kyiv Dismisses Head Groundsman After 40 Years Over Pitch Quality.
Anatolii Kolosha's Dismissal from Dynamo
According to Novyny.live: Anatolii Kolosha, the head groundsman of Kyiv's Dynamo football club, has been dismissed after more than 40 years of service. The Ukrainian Football Online Telegram channel reported that the decision was driven by his lack of formal agronomic education and the appalling condition of the pitch at the club's stadium, which became particularly evident during recent matches. This move highlights the intense pressure on Ukrainian clubs to maintain professional standards despite challenging circumstances.
Kolosha was originally hired by the legendary manager Valerii Lobanovskyi, underscoring his long tenure. Notably, the club had invested 20 million hryvnias in pitch preparation ahead of the season's second half. Despite this significant expenditure, club president Ihor Surkis was reportedly shocked by the state of the field following the winter break.
Pitch Issues and Consequences
After the season resumed, Dynamo played two home matches in the Ukrainian Premier League against Rukh and Epitsentr. The poor quality of the pitch during these games sparked outrage, which appears to have been the final factor leading to Kolosha's dismissal.
The dismissal of Anatolii Kolosha reflects serious underlying issues Dynamo faces with its infrastructure management, problems that could negatively impact the team's on-field performance.
The substantial investment in the pitch shows the club's leadership recognizes the importance of a quality playing surface for successful matches, yet the results have so far failed to meet expectations. This personnel change may prompt the club to seek new approaches to stadium and pitch management to prevent similar situations in the future.
