Aid to farmers: Ukraine will join the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the decision to join the Agreement on the establishment of the International Fund for Agricultural Development.
Joining this International Fund will allow agricultural producers to obtain new financial resources for the development of agriculture, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported.
In particular, Ukrainian farmers will be provided with:
- the opportunity to obtain cheap financial resources, such as loans at low interest rates or grants provided by the Fund for research and implementation of innovative technologies in agriculture;
- access to the Fund's database and the use of its latest international intellectual and technical developments in the agro-industrial sector;
- better opportunities for Ukrainian agricultural producers to participate in the Fund's tenders for the purchase of goods and services for program implementation;
- strengthening Ukraine's international image as a major producer and exporter of agricultural products in the global market and support from the Fund in international political forums.
Taras Vysotskyi, Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, noted that joining the International Fund for Agricultural Development will positively impact the work of Ukrainian farmers and allow them to access additional financial resources.
According to him, "in the process of recovery and development of the Ukrainian agro-sector in the face of full-scale war, the International Fund for Agricultural Development will provide agricultural producers with low-interest loans or grants for research and the implementation of innovative technologies in agriculture".
Taras Vysotskyi also emphasized that joining the Agreement will promote the expansion of Ukraine's international cooperation in the agro-food sector, attracting additional financial resources for agricultural development, expanding the application of the latest technologies in agricultural production, and enhancing the state's food security.
