EFL Club buys its 24,500-seat stadium: future secured for 300 years.
Buying the Stadium to Realize Plans
According to The Sun: The EFL Club has signed an agreement to purchase its own stadium with a capacity of 24,500 seats, which is an important step toward securing their future.
Previously, Huddersfield Town was co-owner of the Accu Stadium along with Kirklees Council and the Rugby Super League team Huddersfield Giants.
AlamyClub chairman Kevin Neagle confirmed that the agreement gives the club 'full operational control' over the stadium.
Now the Terriers are the sole shareholders of this sports arena.
The club stated that plans for improving the 'sports and entertainment architectural landmark' can be realized.
Neagle assured that this significant purchase has secured the club's future for the next THREE CENTURIES.
“After lengthy discussions, we are pleased to have gained full operational control of our home at Accu Stadium.
“We deeply understand the significance of this venue as a sports and entertainment destination.
“(We) look forward to our investments in the stadium, which will provide the city and our local community with more choices and opportunities in the short and long term.
“Huddersfield Town has a proud 117-year history in this city.
“We are proud to have secured the next 300 years of our future here, as well.”
Huddersfield Giants will continue to use the stadium in the 2026 season.

“We will certainly remain, as I have already said, at the Accu Stadium in the 2026 season.”
The Terriers moved to this stadium in 1994, leaving their previous home at Leeds Road.
The club currently sits in 5th place in League 1 after finishing 10th last season.

Just recently, the team from West Yorkshire played in the Premier League. Under David Wagner’s management, the club reached the highest level in the 2017/18 season and survived.
However, in the following season, they were relegated to the Championship. Currently, the team is led by Lee Grant, a former backup goalkeeper for Manchester United.
This stadium purchase is an important milestone for Huddersfield Town, as it will help the club not only stand firmly in League 1 but also create new opportunities for growth and engagement with the local community. Supporting investment in the stadium will ensure the club's long-term success and prosperity for generations to come.
