The new center is being opened as part of a £45 million government program that will help young people find work.

This initiative, known as the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer, is aimed at supporting young people in their job search.

The center will provide services such as career counseling, training programs, mental health support, and job search assistance for individuals aged 16-24.

The center will operate at London Road Stadium, which is currently referred to as Weston Homes Stadium due to sponsorship, with its opening scheduled for the end of this year.

The project is being implemented in partnership with the Peterborough United Foundation, EFL in the community, Jobcentre Plus, and the local community.

The program covers eight regions of England, with Cambridgeshire including Peterborough being one of the selected locations.

Paul Bristow, the Mayor of Peterborough and Cambridgeshire, comments: “This will give young people at risk of being unsupported a real chance to succeed in life.”
“This center will be a real place where young people can receive the necessary support to transition to work, education, or further study.”

According to the Ministry of Education, 3.9% of young people aged 16-17 in the region are not in education, employment, or training, while the national average stands at 3.4%.

Chair of the Peterborough United Foundation, Jill Wignall, added: “By providing opportunities for the next generation, we are not only helping individuals find work but also strengthening our communities and local economy.”

This program is a continuation of the City Council of Peterborough receiving a portion of £88 million from a government initiative aimed at supporting youth services and creating “youth zones” in the city.

Thus, the new employment center at Peterborough United Stadium opens significant opportunities for youth in the region. The implementation of this initiative will provide the necessary support for those seeking work or wanting to continue their education, and could positively impact the local economy in the long run.
