Verdict Against Former SBU Investigator Confirmed
According to inkorr.com: The Appellate Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court confirmed the decision regarding Serhiy Hlivynskyi, a former senior investigator of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Odesa region. He received nine years in prison for extortion and receiving a bribe of 80 thousand dollars, as well as losing all his property assets.
Hlivynskyi tried to influence the lifting of the arrest and blocking of his bank accounts owned by a U.S. citizen. He is also prohibited from holding any public office in law enforcement for a period of three years. The man was arrested while the verdict was being announced in court.
The National Agency for Corruption Prevention detected signs of illegal enrichment exceeding 27.7 million hryvnias concerning Hlivynskyi himself, his family, and close acquaintances.
The Anti-Corruption Court confirmed that serious violations in Hlivynskyi's and his entourage's activities were recorded in the bribery case.
This case underscores the importance of combating corruption in Ukraine. The verdict against Hlivynskyi not only signifies the punishment of corrupt officials but also demonstrates the efforts of law enforcement in detecting and investigating similar crimes. Meanwhile, discussions continue regarding the need for reforms in the anti-corruption prosecutor's office to prevent similar cases in the future.
