Increasing popularity of electric cars in Ukraine
In Ukraine, there is a growing number of drivers choosing electric and hybrid vehicles. Special rules for license plates have been introduced for such cars. According to the Main Service Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, electric cars receive green numbers, while hybrid vehicles use standard ones.Electric cars have green license plates, while cars with hybrid engines have standard ones. This applies to vehicles that operate solely on electricity or combine an electric motor with an internal combustion engine. The registration procedure for electric cars and hybrids is similar, with the only exception regarding the type of numbers. Owners of electric cars are given the option of paid storage of numbers for further registration or sale of the vehicle. However, it is important to remember that green license plates are intended solely for electric vehicles for which they are registered. The Ministry of Internal Affairs advises owners to check the correspondence of license plates to the type of vehicle engine before registration. In the context of the growing popularity of electric cars in Ukraine, drivers' social awareness is becoming increasingly active in choosing eco-friendly vehicles. This undoubtedly contributes not only to reducing harmful gas emissions but also to forming a new consumption culture that emphasizes the importance of sustainable development. The introduction of green license plates is another step towards supporting electric mobility in the country.
