Electronic labor books: what will happen to pension experience after 2026

According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, there is an active transition to electronic labor books, with a deadline of June 10, 2026. Although there is still plenty of time, it is worth remembering that delays can complicate the pension application process. The magazine 'On Pension' has already prepared a video guide that shows how to transfer a labor book to a digital format and preserve your experience.

According to Ukrainian Law No.1217-IX dated 05.02.2021, storing information about work activities in electronic form will simplify procedures and provide the Pension Fund with complete information about each employee's work experience.

"Currently, panic is being canceled," comments journalist Iryna Polyakova. "It is important to follow procedures, not to wave your hands, and to understand that the transition to electronic form is a necessity."

After June 10, 2026, the primary document for confirming experience will be data from the electronic register. Paper labor books, although they will remain, will lose their status as the primary source of information.

Advantages of electronic labor books

  • Reliability: electronic data is not subject to the risk of loss or damage, as can happen with paper documents.

  • Convenience: automatic pension calculation without the need to visit the Pension Fund.

  • Transparency: quick access to information about insurance experience through the personal account on the PFU portal.

  • Error correction: the ability to correct inaccuracies that may exist in the paper version.

Step 1: Preparing documents, including scanned copies of the labor book pages and other important documents related to experience.

Step 2: Authorization on the PFU web portal using KEP, BankID, or Diia.Signature.

Step 3: Submitting the application through the personal account.

Step 4: Filling out the form with personal data.

Step 5: Uploading scanned copies of documents.

Step 6: Signing the application using KEP and sending it to the Pension Fund.

Timely transfer of a labor book to electronic format will help avoid problems and ensure the correct calculation of pensions in the future.

By transitioning to electronic labor books, citizens gain new opportunities and conveniences. It is important to carefully monitor the registration process to avoid difficulties in the future. This will ensure a seamless pension calculation process and reduce the risk of errors in documentation.
