Emirates Resumes Limited Flights from Dubai After Drone Attacks: What You Need to Know About the Cancellations.
Emirates Airline Restarts Operations on a Reduced Scale
According to Novyny.live: Following a series of Iranian drone strikes, Emirates has begun a partial resumption of flights from Dubai International Airport. However, a number of services remain canceled, and affected passengers are being notified about rebooking alternatives. The carrier intends to operate select flights after 10:00 AM local time on March 16, though other scheduled departures have been scrapped.
Travelers are urged to check their flight status on the official Emirates website at emirates.com. The airline is facing massive financial losses, estimated at roughly $100 million per day, due to airspace closures across several Middle Eastern countries. Meanwhile, Dubai Airport is losing about $1 million every minute.
Passenger Policies and Guidelines
For those with booked tickets, specific rules now apply:
- You may rebook onto an alternative flight within 72 hours of your original departure date.
- You can submit a request for a refund.
If the ticket was purchased through a travel agency, passengers should contact that agency directly. For bookings made directly with Emirates, it is recommended to reach out to the airline itself.
It is worth noting that Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates signed a Memorandum of Understanding in 2017, mutually waiving visa requirements. This allows Ukrainians to stay in the UAE without a visa for up to 30 days, with the option to extend for an additional 30 days. While this simplifies travel for Ukrainian citizens, the current disruptions in air service may affect their itineraries.
The ongoing military attacks in the region are severely impacting the aviation industry, particularly Emirates, raising concerns among both passengers and businesses. Although some flights have been restored, the situation remains volatile, and the airline advises its customers to stay alert and monitor updates closely. This also highlights the critical role of diplomatic relations and regional security in maintaining stable air travel operations.
