Protection of energy facilities under threat: lack of funds for new shelters.
Lack of funds for the construction of protective structures
According to ТСН: Today, there is a problem with financing needed for the construction of protective structures for energy facilities. This complicates preparations for potential missile and drone attacks.
Alexander Kharchenko, the Director of the Energy Research Center (ERC), noted that existing fortifications have already demonstrated their effectiveness during previous incidents. However, there is currently a lack of funds for creating new protective structures and expanding the network of fortifications.
“We are already experiencing a lack of funds to build new protective structures and expand the network of fortification objects, and the fortifications have already shown their effectiveness quite well. Unfortunately, at the same time, it is not clear where we plan to obtain resources to purchase equipment for the next periods of attacks, particularly for the upcoming heating season,” Kharchenko stated.
It is also worth mentioning that earlier, Yuri Ignat, the head of the communications department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that Russia has sufficient resources to conduct massive missile and drone attacks on Ukraine one to two times a week.
Thus, the lack of funding becomes a serious problem for strengthening Ukraine's defense capabilities. In the context of constant threats from Russia, it is important to ensure effective protection of key infrastructure facilities, as the lack of available resources for the construction of new protective structures could lead to serious consequences for national security.
