Energy crisis. Moldova has introduced restrictions on the use of electricity.
On December 27, measures were adopted in Moldova to save electricity during peak hours. This was reported by NewsMaker.
According to Deputy Minister of Energy Costantino Borosan, a decision was made to reduce electricity consumption during peak hours in public and commercial institutions. Among the measures taken are:
- reduction of elevator and escalator use,
- reduction of artificial lighting use,
- reduction of street lighting use where it does not pose a threat to public safety.
The electricity-saving measures apply to morning and evening hours (from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 18:00 to 23:00). Administrators of public and commercial buildings must ensure that indoor lighting in buildings is reduced by at least 30%. During non-working hours, lighting in shop windows, decorative, architectural, and advertising buildings will not operate.
Escalators will also not operate from 07:00 to 11:00 and from 18:00 to 23:00. The electricity-saving measures also apply to water supply and sewage enterprises.
Moldovan President Maia Sandu also stated that a Russian missile violated the country's airspace on the night of Wednesday, December 25. She noted that Russia 'is attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure and violating Moldova's airspace with a missile.'
