Galushchenko: Preparing for Winter and Protecting Energy Facilities as a Priority
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko stated that preparation for the winter period and protection of energy facilities from all types of hostile attacks are currently the main priority for energy professionals.
Amid ongoing shelling, strengthening air defense systems is critically important, said the minister during an interview at the "Energy of Business" event organized by Forbes Ukraine.
"The last massive attack on August 26 demonstrated the readiness of Russians to use all types of weapons, including their most expensive modified weapons, for strikes on energy. The main solution for the protection of energy is air defense. Passive protection systems are ineffective when the enemy uses ballistic weapons, and the latest strike indicates that they are ready to use the most advanced ballistic weapons, cluster munitions against our energy sector," the minister noted.
He emphasized that Ukraine is working at all levels with western partners and allies to strengthen air defense systems.
"We work around the clock to improve, strengthen this protection. It is very important, of course, that those promises or public statements made concerning assistance to us in the context of air defense systems are quickly implemented," the minister noted.
