Stunning victory for Chelsea over Liverpool

Chelsea defeated the Reds 2-1 at Stamford Bridge, thanks to a late goal from Estevao Villian in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Refereeing and emotions

In this thrilling match, Chelsea opened the scoring with a powerful strike from Moises Caicedo, but Cody Gakpo equalized. The main event, however, was Maresca's sending off, the 45-year-old coach's emotional reactions after Estevao's goal.

When the Italian manager returned to the bench, he received a second yellow card.

After the match, assistant coach Willy Caballero handled the press, as Maresca's dismissal exempted him from this mandatory participation.

According to Premier League rules, a manager or player who receives a red card is not required to attend post-match interviews.

“No player or coach who has been sent off in a league match or is subject to a suspension for a league match is required to be available for interview during or after that league match.”

Caballero gave comments on Sky Sports.

Next steps and team morale

The expulsion of the former Leicester coach means he will miss the next match. Caballero will act as Chelsea's head coach in the match against Nottingham Forest on October 18 at the City Ground.

However, Caballero noted that Maresca remained in good spirits after the victory over Liverpool.

“He [Maresca] is okay. He is very happy right now. Of course, he can't be here right now, but we are very pleased to have taken the three points at the last moment.”

Caballero added: “We are all human. We were players; we love to see this. Probably all of us can learn from this as well.”

This dramatic victory for Chelsea over Liverpool not only provided them with crucial three points, but also boosted the team's confidence after a tough start to the season. The coach's dismissal left a mark on the match, but the Chelsea players showed resilience, demonstrating their ability to fight for every match, which could be a decisive factor in the battle for top spots in the league table.
