The EU is considering the use of Russian assets to support Ukraine

According to inkorr.com: The European Union is preparing to make an important decision regarding the allocation of frozen Russian assets for funding aid to Ukraine. This was reported by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa following a meeting of EU leaders in Brussels.

As Costa stated, the issue has not lost relevance and remains on the agenda. He emphasized that at the current stage, no country has opposed the initiative. 'Firstly, today no one has vetoed anything,' the President of the Euro Council noted.

The leaders also discussed the technical aspects of using the assets during an informal dinner attended by the President of the European Central Bank Christine Lagarde. Costa added that work on this issue will continue, and there are intentions to make a final decision in December. He stressed that 'all technical issues can be resolved.'

The EU supports the idea of using assets to finance Ukraine

The President of the European Commission confirmed that the EU aims to create a mechanism for using frozen Russian assets for financial support to Ukraine. von der Leyen noted that this idea is a reality, and now it is necessary to determine the best ways to implement it. She emphasized that the European Union supports Ukraine in defense and security matters and called for finding optimal ways to provide assistance.

It is worth noting that Belgium has proposed three guarantees for the use of Russian assets.

EU representatives have made a significant step towards providing financial support to Ukraine through the use of Russian assets. The discussions of technical details and the presence of support for the initiative indicate the unity of EU member states on this issue. A final decision regarding the assets is planned for December, which opens up new opportunities for financial assistance to Ukraine amid Russian aggression.
