EU approves funding for Ukraine for 2026-2027: what the package entails.
The European Union plans to finance Ukraine for 2026-2027
According to inkorr.com: President of the European Council António Costa announced that EU countries will make decisions regarding funding for Ukraine for the next two years, which includes the procurement of military equipment. This will serve as an important signal to Russia.
'Today at this European Council, we will make a political decision regarding financial support for Ukraine for 2026 and 2027, including the procurement of military equipment. This is a very strong signal to Russia,' emphasized the EU president.
António Costa also noted that EU support for Ukraine should be provided “as much as needed, and under any circumstances,” stressing that the summit will be a decisive moment for conveying a clear signal of support.
Enhancing support for Ukraine on the international stage
The President of the European Council emphasized the need to strengthen support, as the actions of Russia under President Putin pose a threat to the civilian population and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. He called on Russia to engage in peace negotiations and refrain from violence.
'Russia must stop killing civilians in Ukraine and destroying civilian infrastructure. It must actively participate in diplomatic efforts, including those proposed by President Trump, to engage in peace negotiations,' emphasized António Costa.
It is also important to note that President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky is at the summit in Brussels and intends to actively engage in negotiations, which could positively influence dialogue and support from international partners.
Currently, the international community's attention is focused on events in Ukraine, especially in the context of military and humanitarian challenges. Support from the EU is an important step to strengthen the country's defense capabilities and ensure its stability amidst prolonged conflict. Joint efforts on the international stage can also contribute to improving the situation and restoring peace in the region.
