From Odesa, Zelenskyy Urges OSCE to Supply Patriot Missiles for Ukraine’s Air Defense.
Ukrainian President Appeals for Greater International Support
According to Novyny.live: Speaking from the southern port city of Odesa, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on members of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) to ramp up assistance for Ukraine’s air defense systems—specifically by supplying interceptor missiles for the Patriot battery. His address highlighted the dire security situation caused by relentless Russian strikes.
Zelenskyy reported that a recent large-scale attack on Kyiv killed 30 people and wounded nearly 100 others. He warned that Russia is stockpiling ballistic missiles for future offensives, posing a growing threat to Ukrainian civilians.
“Russia uses ballistic missiles as its final argument to keep this war going,” the president stated.
Urgent Need for Advanced Defense Systems
The president also directly appealed to the United States, urging Washington to deliver Patriot interceptor missiles.
“Ukraine is in critical need of Patriot interceptor missiles. We all know our partners have them. What is required now is the political will to provide them—first and foremost in the United States,” he said.
Zelenskyy stressed that maintaining a fully supplied air defense network is a matter of life and death.
“Help ensure that our air defense—our Patriot systems—never run out of the missiles they need. That is what saves lives.”
He also urged the international community not to ease sanctions against Russia, arguing that continued pressure is essential to strengthen Ukraine’s position in the war. Cities that regularly come under attack include:
- Odesa
- Kyiv
- Kharkiv
- Dnipro
- Sumy
These remarks underscore the urgency of international support for Ukraine amid persistent aggression.
Zelenskyy’s address to the OSCE and his calls for reinforced backing reflect the critical state Ukraine faces as a result of Russia’s war. The demand for modern air defense systems like Patriot highlights the vital role of foreign assistance in protecting civilians and reducing human casualties. At the same time, his push to maintain sanctions against Russia underscores Kyiv’s strategy of defending its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
