EU Commissioner Kubilius called for the war to be transferred to Russian territory: statement details.
EU Commissioner calls for a clearer strategy for engagement with Russia
According to inkorr.com: Andrius Kubilius, EU Commissioner for Defense and Space, emphasized the need to develop a more understandable strategy for the European Union's engagement with Russia. He expressed this opinion during the Warsaw Security Forum, where the topic 'Winning the War Before It Starts: European Strategies for Ukraine' was discussed.
'Sometimes we only think about how to defend ourselves against provocations, but Ukraine is currently waging a real war and can wage it on Russian territory using deep strike capabilities. We need to support Ukraine's capabilities in this direction. If Putin does not want to stop the war, we must ensure that it is brought to Russian territory. Ukraine is doing well with this task, reducing oil production in Russia.'
According to Kubilius, since the beginning of the invasion, EU support for Ukraine has amounted to approximately 60 billion euros. He also stressed that the European Union is ready to invest in its defense at a rate of 3.5%.
The Commissioner called for active discussion on frozen Russian assets, which may affect international relations. He also warned about the threat from Russia's shadow fleet, which could be used for hybrid attacks, including secret drone launches from containers.
Kubilius expressed solidarity with Ukraine and called on the EU to develop a more active cooperation strategy with Russia and to prepare for possible threats from the shadow fleet.
Kubilius's speech highlights the security situation in Europe and the importance of supporting Ukraine amid the protracted conflict with Russia. Developing new strategies for engagement with Moscow is extremely relevant, as the international community seeks effective mechanisms to deter aggression and protect states under threat.
