Britain and France are ready to send up to 15 thousand troops to Ukraine: details of the security guarantees plan

According to ТСН: European countries have shown willingness to join the coalition of observers to monitor a possible ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine. Military experts from Britain and France, along with Brussels, have already prepared a security guarantees plan for Ukraine.

According to diplomatic sources in Brussels, France and Great Britain could provide between 10 to 15 thousand military personnel within the first six months, if the need arises. Both countries are also ready to join monitoring the ceasefire even without a UN or EU mandate — a request from Ukraine will be sufficient for this.

Ceasefire Monitoring

The control of ceasefire compliance from the air and sea is planned to be conducted by neighboring states. Turkey, in particular, may provide oversight in the Black Sea region.

Diplomatic sources also note that Russia is likely to adopt a tougher stance in the negotiations due to statements about Ukrainian drone strikes on Putin's residence, which the Kremlin considers an attempt to disrupt dialogue. The Ukrainian side denies any attacks and urges international partners not to succumb to unfounded accusations.

Progress in Negotiations

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk reported significant progress in the negotiations regarding the end of the war in Ukraine. He noted that the United States, for the first time, officially stated its readiness to participate in ensuring Ukraine's security after peace is achieved, which may involve the presence of American contingents at the demarcation lines.

German Chancellor Merz also confirmed that, with security guarantees from the US, Western peacekeepers may take action against the Russian army in case of a ceasefire violation in Ukraine.

It is also reported that Vilnius is ready to provide troops and military training capacities for joint allied forces. The Lithuanian President emphasized that the question of peace in Ukraine cannot be resolved without Ukraine.

Switzerland may also send its servicemen for a peacekeeping mission in Ukraine if the UN Security Council or the OSCE provide a mandate for this.

The situation around the war in Ukraine continues to remain tense. The importance of international support and participation of observers is critically important for achieving stability in the region. There is hope for constructive negotiations that may lead to a peace agreement and security guarantees for all parties in the conflict.
