According to the National Bank, in 2024-2025, during the withdrawal of counterfeit foreign banknotes, 93% were US dollars, while euros accounted for only 7%. The hundred-dollar bill turned out to be the most vulnerable, making up 90% of all counterfeits. In second place are fifty-dollar banknotes, which account for 9%.

According to inkorr.com: The National Bank recommends avoiding currency exchange 'from hand to hand', over the internet, or at unlicensed points. For safe transactions, it is better to turn to official exchanges of banks and non-bank institutions that have a license from the NBU. Dozens of 'online stores' in Telegram are selling counterfeit dollars. Fraudsters also open underground 'exchanges' that look like ordinary ones. Even sellers of electronics and other goods can unwittingly receive counterfeit bills through popular ad services.
