The 38-year-old former football league player allegedly threw a 69-year-old man into a dumpster before sustaining a stab wound himself, according to court documents obtained by the WXIN-TV news channel.

The man, a truck driver, suffered facial and jaw injuries. According to The New York Post, he was caught in a choke hold.

“We are speaking with lawyers first,” said his family.
“We want to be careful about what we say. We appreciate it.”

The incident occurred near the Westin and Marriott Downtown hotels.

Sanchez approached the truck parked in the Westin hotel loading zone. According to police, he pursued the driver.

“Sanchez was seen chasing the driver and throwing him against the Westin wall,” states the court documents.

The driver, not understanding what was happening, claims that Sanchez smelled of alcohol and his speech was slurred.

“I thought Sanchez might be a hotel manager as he was well dressed,” he said.

The situation escalated when the driver attempted to go to the Marriott security office, and their dispute turned into a brawl. The driver, using pepper spray, tried to push Sanchez away while he allegedly attacked.

The driver claimed that he stabbed Sanchez two or three times because he felt his life was in danger. When he was on the ground, he saw only Sanchez's legs approaching him.

Sanchez was hospitalized but later released. He has been charged with battery, trespassing, and public intoxication.

Blood remained on the sidewalk near the scene of the attack.
