How to Restore Old Sneakers to Perfection: 5 Simple Steps.
According to The Sun: Buying a new pair of sneakers can significantly impact your budget. So it's better to try to upgrade your old ones by applying a few simple tips.
GettyHere are some recommendations to make your sneakers feel like new again.
CLEANING
Brush: Use a soft brush to remove dirt and debris stuck to the shoes. A special brush is not necessary — a regular toothbrush will also do.
LACES
Remove the laces: Soak them in warm soapy water for an hour. After that, change the water and gently rub the laces with your hands to remove dirt. Dry the laces on a warm windowsill. If they are very dirty, it's better to put them in a pillowcase or laundry bag and wash them in the machine.
FINDING A SOLUTION
For regular sneakers: Mix a little laundry detergent with warm water and use a clean cloth to wipe away dirt. If the shoes are made of suede, avoid water; simply wipe them with a soft brush and carefully remove stains with a cloth dampened in white vinegar.
JUICE AND BEET
For stubborn stains on light or white sneakers, use baking soda. Mix a teaspoon of powder with an equal amount of water. To apply the solution to the shoes, again use an old toothbrush. Leave it for an hour, then wipe with a clean damp cloth. Clean the rubber soles with a brush and the baking soda solution.
ODOR
To eliminate unpleasant odor: Remove the insoles and sprinkle them with dry baking soda, which neutralizes unpleasant scents. For more serious stains, soak the insoles in a shallow bowl with inexpensive vodka. For deeper cleaning, use warm water with a bit of laundry detergent, a cloth, or an old brush to remove dirt, then let them dry naturally.
