Top 7 Dream Team Players with the Lowest Ratings: Who Failed to Meet Expectations

According to The Sun: At Dream Team HQ, we strive to highlight not only the best players but also those who have yet to meet expectations.

Before Gameweek 8, we prepared a list of the seven most popular outfield players who have yet to score 40 points this season.

We note that we excluded players who have injuries or have faced form issues, including Cole Palmer (£5.5m) and Alexander Isak (£6m).

Logically, players who do not play cannot be rated, but we will discuss those who had enough playing time and did not meet expectations.

7. Morgan Gibbs-White (£4.1m)

Nottingham Forest has yet to replicate last year's form, which is affecting their results in Dream Team.

Elliot Anderson (£4.1m) shows activity on the field and the ability to earn bonus points, whereas other players at City Ground, including their number 10, perform significantly worse.

Gibbs-White provided three assists, but his statistics in other aspects have declined — in ten matches, he has only made four tackles.

As a result, the 25-year-old player, present in 5.4% of teams, has scored only 39 points.

6. Pedro Neto (£3.8m)

Pedro Neto has played all of Chelsea's matches this season, starting in all but two. However, the lack of playing time is not an excuse for his modest 34 points.

The only goal he scored was against West Ham in Gameweek 2, which was essentially his only shot on target since the start of the season.

Comparing him with his teammates — Moisés Caicedo (£4.7m) and Enzo Fernández (£4.7m) — only highlights his poor start.

Thus, Dream Team managers must maximize the support for the right Chelsea players.

5. Reece James (£4m)

The next Chelsea player, Reece James, confirms that many managers are still trying to understand Enzo Maresca's approaches.

Although James has recently suffered from injuries, he has been available this season. However, his playing time has been limited, which negatively impacted his results in Dream Team.

In particular, he has only one 'clean' match, which occurred at the start of the season.

James occupies 5.8% ownership and has only 33 points to his name.

4. Anthony Elanga (£3.5m)

High hopes were placed on Swedish winger Elanga after his move to Newcastle.

Following his success at Forest in the 2024/25 season, he became one of the most selected midfielders at the start of the season.

However, just one assist and no goals — this is a rather modest result for him at St. James' Park.

Many managers hoped he would play a key role on the right wing but was forced to share playing time with Jacob Murphy (£4m).

This led to Elanga scoring only 34 points, and his ownership, which once exceeded 30%, is likely to decrease to 7.1%.

3. Florian Wirtz (£5.3m)

One cannot ignore the unacceptable start of the German playmaker at Liverpool.

Wirtz has yet to register a goal or assist in Dream Team, scoring only 27 points — the lowest among all players on this list.

For comparison, this puts him alongside Enzo Le Fe (£2.6m), Tyler Adams (£2.8m), and Yegor Yarmolyuk (£2.7m).

Despite these cheap midfielders rarely making it to starting lineups, 9.9% of managers still believe in Wirtz's talent.

The 22-year-old athlete has every chance to showcase himself, but currently, his average points per game do not match either the price or the popularity.

2. Bruno Fernandes (£5.7m)

The star of Manchester United continues to hover close to 40 points, but he is just one short. His rating would look very different if he hadn't missed two penalties this season.

This frustrates many owners — currently, he enjoys support in 11% of teams.

It's no wonder why Fernandes remains popular, as he was last season's top Dream Team midfielder.

This time, the Red Devils have no European competitions, and he will need to show something extraordinary to maintain his former level in fewer games.

On him also weighs the pressure of being the second most expensive midfielder in the game.

In his price bracket, he should outperform Anton Stakh (£2.8m), Dan Ndiaye (£3.6m), and Brian Grud (£2.8m).

1. Virgil van Dijk (£5m)

The most popular player in the game who has yet to reach 40 points is Liverpool's captain.

This indicates that Arne Slot's team has yet to find its rhythm, especially after three consecutive losses before the international break.

Together with Fernandes, van Dijk is also one point below 40, but at £5m he must be among the best in his position.

The Dutchman has only provided two 'clean' matches, which significantly differentiates him from his defensive colleagues at Arsenal, Newcastle, and Crystal Palace.

In comparison, Dan Burn (£4.3m) and Gabriel (£5.1m) each secured six 'clean' matches.

15.4% of Dream Team managers now have to make a tough decision if van Dijk does not start scoring points in Gameweek 8.

Thus, the situation in Dream Team is becoming increasingly difficult, and players who have not met the expectations placed on them are now under pressure. Managers will have to make tough choices, including whether to keep players like van Dijk and Fernandes in their teams, as their performance is currently not meeting expectations. Players who do not score points may become a source of failure for many teams in upcoming matches. Conducting deeper analysis and timely changes may be the key to success in the season.
