Taylor Swift mocks Trent in new song: line about contract with Real.
Taylor Swift and Trent Alexander-Arnold: new album and subtext
According to The Sun: Football fans are convinced that Taylor Swift joked about Trent Alexander-Arnold in her new track, mentioning 'contract with Real' in her lines.
The England star stirred outrage among fans by leaving his home club Liverpool and signing a free transfer with Madrid's Real.
GettyThe Madrid club spent £10 million to sign the 26-year-old player, but Liverpool fans were unhappy about his departure.
He has also faced criticism from experts, including Jamie Carragher, who expressed understanding of Liverpool fans' discontent over one of their best players moving to a European rival.
Alexander-Arnold is reportedly set to earn around £14 million a year in the Spanish capital, having signed a deal until 2031.
Fans noticed that Taylor Swift may be teasing the right-back by reading lines from her new song “Wi$h Li$t.”
In this song, featured in Swift's new album “The Life of a Showgirl,” there’s a mention of wanting to get a contract with Xabi Alonso's team.
“Looking at freedom, living carefree. Want three dogs they call their kids. And good waves, no fakeness. They want it all. They want a contract with Real.”
Fans humorously discuss whether Swift is really hinting at the footballer.
One commenter wrote: “Taylor Swift joking about Trent wasn’t on my 2025 bingo card.”
Another added: “Taylor Swift clearly supports Liverpool and threw shade at Trent, respect.”
Another fan expressed: “No way I just heard a reference to Trent Alexander-Arnold in Taylor Swift's new album, hahaha, my thoughts are on Mars.”
Taylor Swift has never publicly announced her support for a specific football team, but last year she performed twice at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Interview with Trent Alexander-Arnold about leaving Liverpool
TRENT ALEXANDER-ARNOLD spoke to Liverpool club media about his decision to leave Anfield.
Here are the key points…
I want to say this isn’t an easy decision, and there are a lot of thoughts and feelings in all of this. I’ve been here for 20 years, and I’ve loved every minute of that time, achieved all my dreams. I realized I needed a change, a new challenge both as a player and as a person. I think now is the time for that.
I fully believe in the manager and the club moving forward. It doesn’t mean that I don’t believe in titles or trophies; I just feel I need a change.
I fell in love with this club as a child, and that feeling has grown day by day. I can’t give enough back for what this place has given me and I can’t take it for granted. I’ve always given everything throughout 20 years.
Of course, this may shock many fans, and I hope the team and everyone else can feel how wonderful this season has been.
I’m sure one day I want to bring my kids to Anfield to show them where I played. Thank you very much for everything you’ve done for me. I will always love the club and its fans.
Challenges at the new place
Taylor Swift is often associated with the NFL as she is frequently seen at games of her fiancé Travis Kelce on the Kansas City team.
Alexander-Arnold currently has mixed feelings about life in Madrid, having only started in two La Liga matches.
During Real's Champions League win over Marseille, he suffered a hamstring injury and is likely to miss matches until the end of the month.
Before his injury, he was left out of the starting lineup in favor of experienced right-back Dani Carvajal.
When asked about the battle between the pair, Xabi Alonso noted: “Fortunately, we have healthy competition in the team, and players are fighting for their place.”
