Ex-Chelsea player Andre Schürrle starts a new career in sports competitions

According to The Sun: Andre Schürrle, the former star of Chelsea Football Club, left professional sports for a completely new, extreme type of competition that, according to him, 'will make his body scream for help'.

The German world champion played for Chelsea from 2013 to 2015, leaving a bright mark in the team.

Schürrle also played for Fulham. However, after retiring at the age of 29, he decided to try something completely different.

In recent years, he has participated in various extreme hikes across Europe. In January, he completed his incredible challenge 'Iceman', during which he climbed a mountain in freezing conditions, dressed only in shorts.

Participation in the ultramarathon

Currently, Schürrle plans to take part in the epic ultramarathon 'Last Soul Ultra', which will take place in his native Germany. It will feature 100 athletes competing on a challenging 6.7 km route.

Participants must complete one lap every hour, and the last one remaining on the course becomes the winner.

This is a true test of endurance that will surely leave many in agony. But Schürrle is eagerly looking forward to participating in this competition, which he considers the biggest of his life.

“I am fascinated by how far one can go when your body is already screaming for help. That moment when only your mind makes the decision is the essence of Last Soul Ultra,” he stated.

“There are things that I consider challenges. I want to gain from these difficult moments in my life. This certainly applies to extremes. But to be honest, I don’t feel like I have reached extreme sports.”

Schürrle was once regarded as one of the best wingers in Europe. He started at Mainz and Bayer Leverkusen, and in 2013 moved to Chelsea for £18 million. While at Chelsea, he scored 14 goals in 65 matches, winning the Premier League and the Carabao Cup under José Mourinho.

Subsequently, he played for Wolfsburg, where he won the DFB-Pokal and the German Supercup, and also for Borussia Dortmund, winning another national cup. In 2018, he returned to Fulham, scoring six goals in 25 matches. The following season, he was loaned to Moscow's Spartak.

Despite not turning 30, Schürrle decided to pause his career. After retiring in 2017, he had played 57 matches for the German national team and scored 22 goals.

Schürrle was notable for providing an assist in the 2014 World Cup final, helping Mario Götze score the winning goal in extra time against Argentina.

His last match for the German national team was in 2017.

Andre Schürrle's football career opened up new opportunities for him, and now he seeks to test his limits in extreme competitions, reflecting his enduring love for challenges and his desire to grow in new fields.
