According to The Sun: Former Liverpool Women manager Matt Beard was found dead in his home. This information was confirmed during the investigation.

The 47-year-old coach was rushed to the hospital after medics found him at home in Deeside, Flintshire.

However, at the hearing in Norwich, it was revealed that he tragically died at the hospital in Chester around 9:00 PM on September 20.

The hearing was postponed for a full investigation.

Matt Beard's Career

Matt Beard, who started his career at Millwall Lionesses in 2008, was always professionally involved in women's football.

He spent three years at Liverpool, joining the team from Chelsea in 2012 after three seasons with the Blues.

In 2016, he moved to Boston Breakers for a year, then returned to England in 2018 with West Ham.

Sadly, Beard leaves behind a wife and two children. Over £50,000 has been raised for his family.

His son posted on X the day after his death: “Never missed a chance to make me laugh, even on bad days he always said: ‘I’ll say I can make you laugh’ and always did.”

Tributes

Tributes to the former coach, who won two Women’s Super League titles with Liverpool, took the form of a minute's silence at matches involving league-related teams.

“Liverpool Football Club is deeply shocked and saddened by the sudden loss of former LFC Women manager Matt Beard,” the statement said.

“The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Matt's family and friends during this horrific time.”

The club also noted that Beard was 'not just an incredibly dedicated and successful manager, but also a person with a kind heart.'
