The Red Devils have already lost in the Carabao Cup to Grimsby and currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League table. They are just one point above the relegation zone and ten points behind league leaders Liverpool after four games. This marks the worst start for the club since the beginning of the Premier League era.
Many experts believe that Amorim's career at the club is coming to an end. Former United coach Rene Meulensteen expressed the opinion that Carrick is the best candidate for this role to elevate the club in the table.
“Michael Carrick may be the obvious choice if Ruben Amorim leaves,” he said in comments to BetVictor.
“Obviously, Michael knows many of the players who are there, so he has good internal information. He knows the club well.”

However, he has agreed to participate in programs as a commentator for Prime Video during the Champions League, where his analysis of the game between Tottenham and Villarreal has received positive feedback from fans.
Rene Meulensteen is convinced that Carrick is capable of implementing a system that enables players to unleash their potential.
“I am convinced that the team would show its best qualities if they played in a system that suits them,” he added.
Carrick has served the club for 12 years, winning five Premier League titles and the Champions League, and was appointed captain in 2017. He has also managed three games as interim coach following the dismissal of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in 2021, achieving two wins and one draw.

The situation at Manchester United does not look optimistic. However, one of the possible ways to express hope for improvement is the return of former player and coach Michael Carrick, who could instill the desired confidence in the team and restore the club's former glory.
Meanwhile, the rest of the club is waiting for a resolution to the situation that desperately needs improvement if Manchester United is to maintain its ambitions in leagues and cups.
