The former coach of Wycombe started working at Luton in January, where he initially showed decent results, but failed to prevent the team's relegation to League One.
This season, the management expected an improvement in the team's performance, but results noticeably worsened, which led to the board's decision to dismiss him along with the coaching staff.
The club issued a statement:
“Luton Town Football Club today parted ways with coach Matt Bloomfield.
“Matt joined the Hatters in January from Wycombe, and although he led the team to two losses in 11 matches, he could not prevent relegation after a defeat to West Bromwich.”
Currently, the responsibilities of the coach are being performed by the head of the Under-21 team, Alex Lowliss, who will be assisted by coaches Paul Benson, Kevin Foley, and Kevin Pilkington for the match against Cambridge United.
The club also established a committee to select a new head coach.
“The process of appointing a new manager has already begun under the leadership of the committee, which includes members of the executive team, recruitment, football staff, and the board.”
Luton recently found themselves in the Premier League, but following relegation from the top division, they are once again facing difficulties.
In light of these events, the club is hopeful for a swift search for a new coach who can help stabilize the situation and return the team to competing for higher positions in the league table. Despite a difficult start to the season, Luton Town has the potential to regain its position in professional football.Read also
