Morrison took over a team that was fighting for survival in League Two.

The team displayed decent form, ending an eight-match unbeaten streak, but unfortunately, Sutton could not retain their place in the EFL.

After a significant squad overhaul, the team under Morrison finished 12th in the National League last season.

However, the new season has started poorly: the team is currently in 22nd place, having won just one of the first nine matches.

The 3-2 home loss to Tamworth was Morrison's last match in the National League.

Yesterday, the team also suffered a 2-1 home defeat to Brighton's youth team in the National Cup.

"Sutton United confirms the dismissal of Steve Morrison as head coach by mutual consent.
"Morrison arrived from Hornchurch to replace Matt Gray in January 2024 and stabilized the team's results towards the end of the 2023/24 season, lifting the team out of the relegation zone in League Two.
"Under his leadership, Sutton fought to maintain their position until the last match, but unfortunately were relegated after a 4-4 draw with MK Dons.
"A significant squad overhaul occurred in the summer, leading to a 12th place finish in the National League last season, but this season has started hard."
"The club expresses gratitude to Steve for his work over 21 months at Gander Green Lane. His energy, passion, and dedication were infectious to all, and his efforts off the pitch in shaping the club as a more professional organization were invaluable. We wish him all the best in the future."
"Assistant coach John Mina will take on the role of interim head coach, and a new head coach will be announced soon."

In his playing career, Morrison made 53 appearances in the Premier League, scoring 10 goals.

After retiring, he managed Cardiff's youth team and later took over as head coach of the first team.

However, after 11 months, he was dismissed despite winning 16 of 45 matches.

After that, Morrison became the head coach of Isthmian League club Hornchurch.

After a great start, in which he secured the team 18 wins in 27 matches, he received an offer from Sutton United in January 2024.

He now leaves Sutton with a record of 21 wins, 26 draws, and 30 losses.

The team will play their next match this Saturday against Brackley Town.

Morrison's dismissal came as a surprise to many fans, as he had guided the team through a difficult period, but the results in the first part of the season have evidently been a determining factor for the club's owners. The team hopes to find a new manager who can lead Sutton back to success, as the situation in the National League requires urgent resolution.

The announcement of the new manager is expected soon, and fans hope this move will help the team improve results in the upcoming matches.
