Hamilton's failure due to Ferrari error

According to The Sun: Lewis Hamilton was unable to reach Q3 for the fifth time this season due to a poor tire decision by Ferrari. The seven-time world champion expressed his dissatisfaction that the team did not change the tires before his attempt at a fast lap in Q2.

Hamilton's disappointment

Before qualifying, Hamilton seemed to have a good chance to contend for pole position as he showed fast times in practice. But after being pushed out of the top 10, he was unable to attempt another run due to a lack of fuel and finished in 12th place.

Hamilton shared his thoughts:

“I am obviously very disappointed. Yesterday the car felt good, today a decision was made that looked best for us on paper.”

“Our speed wasn’t bad. We made progress, I felt really in shape, made no mistakes, and didn’t go off the track. The problem is that at the end we didn’t have the right tires.”

“It’s tough. Everyone ahead of me had the medium tires, and I lost them in P2 due to the planning that put me on the back foot.”

When asked about the possibility of making a pit stop like Leclerc did, he added:

“Yes, but the decision was not made.”

“I wanted to do it, but the team said that warming up would take too long and we had neither time nor fuel. It’s not ideal, but we will learn from this.”

“There are many positives from this weekend. I felt really confident. Honestly, I had hoped to fight for pole, so this was a shock.”

Hamilton concluded:

“I will keep this in mind and continue to give my best.”

Ferrari's problems

This day was also unfortunate for Ferrari: Charles Leclerc had an accident in the last session. He was so upset that he got out of the car and frustrated threw his gloves on the ground before the red flag was raised.

Leclerc blocked and could not take corner 15, even though he finished second on this track last year.

Hamilton's failure and Ferrari's problems significantly impacted qualifying. Both teams need to rethink their strategies for the upcoming races to avoid similar situations. Despite his disappointment, Hamilton should keep the positives in view and continue fighting for the lead.
