In Italy, tourists were surprised by an unusual tax on the bill: what they paid for.
According to The Sun: Tourists visiting a restaurant in Ostuni, southern Italy, received an unpleasant surprise during their lunch. After dining at the establishment, they had to pay not only for food and drinks but also a 'music charge', which turned out to be somewhat surreal.
A group of tourists shared the cost of the drinks and snacks, which included fruit juices. However, when it came time to pay the bill, each of them had to pay an additional £1.70 for 'music'. It turns out that this was the cost of a DJ who played in the restaurant as background music without the guests' knowledge.
“The music was very nice, but no one expected to pay for background music.”
After the incident, the tourists posted the bill on social media, which sparked outrage among internet users. This case is not unique - recently, a bar in Ibiza was also criticized for a strange charge for placing a bag on a hook.
Some establishments have started to introduce additional charges without warning, leading to outrage among visitors and becoming a topic of discussion on social media. Such situations raise questions about the honesty and transparency of service costs in the gastronomic industry.
