G7 alongside allies prepare joint response to DPRK's military aid to Russia.
Foreign ministers of the "Group of Seven" countries and their allies expressed serious concern about the presence of North Korean troops in Russia. This is stated in a joint statement published on the website of Japan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
All G7 countries - the USA, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Canada, the EU, as well as South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand - joined the statement.
Diplomats emphasized that several thousand DPRK military personnel are already stationed on the territory of the Russian Federation. In their opinion, such support by North Korea of Russian aggression against Ukraine not only demonstrates Moscow's desperate attempts to compensate for its losses but also poses a threat of conflict expansion.
The ministers also condemned the military cooperation between North Korea and Russia, in particular, the acquisition of North Korean ballistic missiles by the Russian side. Particular concern is raised by the potential transfer of technologies related to nuclear weapons and missiles to the DPRK.
President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that 11,000 military personnel from the DPRK are already in Russia's Kursk region.
