The New York Times reported how many F-16s Ukraine will be able to use this year.
Ukraine will receive F-16 fighters from its partners, but will be able to use them on the battlefield in limited numbers due to a lack of personnel. This information is provided by The New York Times.
These fighters will be used with powerful electronic warfare systems and various armaments together with Western air defense systems such as Patriot. They will help expand the danger zone for Russian pilots and strengthen the defense of Ukrainian cities and infrastructure.
Russia had so much Time to strengthen its defense, especially along the front line. The F-16s and their pilots will face stiff resistance from Russian air defenses both on the ground and in the air.
US officials plan to train about 20 pilots this year. The training takes place in the USA, the Netherlands, and Denmark.
Of course, at least two pilots are assigned to each aircraft for rest and training. Therefore, only about 10 F-16s will be able to fly combat missions. Additionally, the lack of trained technical personnel is also a problem.
Although the F-16s will not immediately impact the situation on the front, they will significantly strengthen Ukraine's air defense.
The F-16s are already on their way to Ukraine. In the coming years, Belgium will also deliver 30 F-16 aircraft to Ukraine.
