Kharkiv City Branch of 'Gas Networks' urges residents to adhere to safety rules when using gas appliances

With the onset of cold weather, the Kharkiv City Branch of 'Gas Networks' has reached out to residents with an important message about the safe use of gas appliances. Company employees particularly emphasized the danger of using gas stoves for heating rooms.

'Do not use gas stoves or surfaces for heating rooms. This can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning. Do not risk the lives and health of your loved ones'

Experts reminded about the main rules for the safe use of a gas stove.

Firstly, when using a stove without auto-ignition, you must first light a match and then open the gas valve. It is important to ensure a constant supply of fresh air for complete combustion of gas, so the room must be regularly ventilated.

Experts warn that a gas stove should not be left unattended, as boiling liquid can extinguish the flame of the burner, or a draft can put out the fire. In such a case, the gas that continues to flow accumulates and creates an explosive mixture with air.

It is categorically forbidden to dry laundry or hair over lit burners and to place flammable materials near the stove. It is also advisable to avoid using a malfunctioning stove or using it for purposes other than its intended use.

If you smell gas, immediately call the emergency number 104 and follow the dispatcher’s instructions. Observing these simple rules can help save the lives and health of residents.
