CrowdStrike CEO commented on global outage.

Windows issue detected and fixed
The head of CrowdStrike, George Kurtz, reported that the issue that caused the global tech outage was detected, isolated, and fixed. Currently, the troubleshooting process is underway. According to him, the outage did not affect Mac and Linux, and it has nothing to do with security or cyberattacks.
Kurtz also recommended that organizations check if they communicate with CrowdStrike representatives through official channels. He emphasized that their team is fully focused on ensuring their clients' safety and stability.
Massive outages due to Windows issue
In the morning, several countries experienced massive outages due to a Windows issue. Airports, government institutions, banks, logistics carriers, telecom operators, and private companies felt the impact of these issues. According to Bloomberg, all Windows computers with CrowdStrike antivirus installed stopped working.
American airlines were the most affected. United Airlines and Delta Airlines suspended flights due to communication issues, and Frontier canceled and delayed many of its flights. Chaotic scenes are unfolding at airports: passengers are unable to check in for their next flights, and those who have arrived cannot retrieve their baggage. Booking and payment systems are also not functioning properly.
Outage linked to CrowdStrike antivirus
CrowdStrike confirmed the link between the Windows issue and an update from their supplier. They are currently in the process of rolling back this update worldwide. According to the company, the outages on Windows hosts were caused by the Falcon sensor, which provides security and protection of endpoints from cyberattacks.
