General Wesley Clark, former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO in Europe, claims that peace in Ukraine is impossible until Vladimir Putin understands that his maximalist goals are unattainable. He shared his vision of possible negotiations and the role of the USA in this process in an exclusive interview.

The General noted that the expectations from Donald Trump's administration diverge from those of Ukrainians. Putin wants Ukraine to not suffer, but does not wish to continue the war. Clark emphasized that diplomacy is only one aspect of the struggle in negotiations with Russia and pointed to the Dayton Peace Agreement as an example.

The General stressed that Ukraine must ask for more than it expects to receive and that pressure from Trump and China, as well as the determination of NATO allies in Europe, are necessary for achieving sustainable peace. He also noted the effectiveness of the flexible Ukrainian front and warned about possible Russian interference in the electoral process in Ukraine.

Earlier, Trump shared details of his conversation with Putin regarding the end of the war in Ukraine.
