Criminal Proceedings Underway in Ukraine and Monaco

According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's Prosecutor General, Ruslan Kravchenko, has announced two separate criminal investigations: one into an assassination attempt on a Ukrainian family in Monaco, and another into the murder of Anastasiia Berezovska. Law enforcement has confirmed her death, and a pre-trial inquiry is now in progress. In a Telegram post, Kravchenko stated:

“The first case involves an attempted attack on a Ukrainian family in Monaco.”

The Monaco incident is being treated as an attempted premeditated murder of two or more individuals. Berezovska, who was suspected of involvement in that attack, was found dead on July 7 near Kyiv. Authorities have verified her death, and suspects have been arrested on charges of intentional murder.

Suspects in Custody

Those detained include:

  • Vitalii Zhykovych, for whom a judge at the Pechersk District Court ordered pretrial detention on July 9 without the option of bail.
  • Vladyslav Reut, 33, originally from Zhytomyr, who is believed to have served in military unit A2772 since 2022.
  • A 49-year-old native of Uman, who worked as a police officer until 2020.

Additionally, Interpol had previously placed Berezovska on its wanted list. Kravchenko separately stressed the urgent need to establish an international investigative team to probe these crimes.

It is worth noting that the explosion near businessman Vadym Yermolaiev's home occurred as his vehicle entered the parking area. The blast injured Yermolaiev, his partner Anna Nasobina, and their son. These events underscore the gravity of the situation and the importance of an investigation aimed at uncovering all circumstances surrounding the offenses.

The arrests and the confirmation of Berezovska's murder highlight the dangers facing Ukrainian citizens, even abroad. The creation of a joint international task force could enable a more thorough investigation and help identify possible links between these crimes and organized criminal networks operating both inside and outside Ukraine. The need for cross-border coordination in such cases is becoming increasingly clear.
